Fire Ant Guide

Fire ants are Dangerous to people as their bites are venomous. These are four types of fire ants. In US, the FDA estimates that more than $5 billion is spent on medical treatment, damage and control in infected areas. They feed on grass, plants, cattle, seeds and sometimes crickets. In US they cause severe damage to people property. Their nest will not be visible as they build their nest under rocks, bricks, timber etc. They live in moist area. It is believed that these fire ants are transferred to US from South America at the period of World War II. These fire ants inject venom named Solenopsin (Alkanoid venom). The venom is both insecticidal and antibiotic. The venom of this fire ant causes stinging and swells into bump. This cause irritation and allergies. Only few people are allergic to this venom which results in anaphylaxis which needs immediate treatment. So it needs special attention as these ants can cause severe damage to your health and property. getting rid of pain from fire ant bites can be achieved through the following ways. If you are bitten by fire ants first wash the skin softly with soap and water. After that place ice cubes on the place bitten by fire ants. This will help to bring down the swelling and irritation till next day. If you found any allergic to fire ant bite, it is wise to consult a physician. If the victim experiences dizziness and shortness of breath, then its emergency time, so call 911 immediately. Know the risk and be safe from fire ants.
